Tenants help recruit senior Housing staff

Leeds Tenants Federation has the right to be involved in the recruitment and selection of all Strategic Housing posts over the grade of PO5.

A Federation member also briefs new starters about tenant involvement in regular staff induction sessions.

Leeds Tenants Federation have played a key role in the recruitment and selection of a new Director of Leeds City Council's Neighbourhoods and Housing department.

Chair of Leeds Tenants Federation, Michael Hall, was one of four key representatives of partner organisations invited to quiz shortlisted candidates for this high-profile job in March 2004.

Along with Assistant Chief Constable, Greg Wilkinson, Public Health Director, Dr Michael Robinson and the Chair of one of the Arms Length Management Organisations, Leeds Tenants Federation's Michael Hall took part in a round-table discussion with the candidates.

He gave a presentation on the role of Leeds Tenants Federation and answered many questions about the partnership between tenants and Leeds City Council. This was an opportunity for the candidates to familiarise themselves with the city's leading tenant organisation and the crucial role it plays in neighbourhoods and housing stategy.
